Anf here is the play-by-play :) Step 1. Rip out all carpets and base-board 
Step 2. Make sure floor is flat and cover with roofer's felt (keeps out moisture and insulates a little) and staple in place. 
Then start laying the wood... the first row is the most important... needs to be secure and straight! 
Half-way there... threshold is difficult bit!
And almost done! Add trim and repopulate room :) 
Then paint and we are done!!!
